Why Pinterest is 2012′s hottest website

By Pete Cashmore, Special to CNN | February 6, 2012

Pinterest is the breakout social network of 2012, but even technology addicts could be excused for missing its rise to success. The web-based “pinboard,” which launched almost two years ago, barely got a mention on Silicon Valley news sites until six months ago, when early adopters suddenly realized that a site with millions of monthly users had sprung up almost unnoticed by the tech press. That’s because Pinterest didn’t take the usual route of Web-based startups: romancing early adopters and technology journalists before attempting to “cross the chasm” to mainstream adoption.

  4. A Call for Articles – Articles – Typing Injury FAQ

Posted on February 29th, 2012 by admin

    A Call for Articles

The Typing Injury FAQ (TIFAQ) is expanding and a selection of articles is being collected that will cover different professional approaches in dealing with Repetitive Strain Injuries (RSIs), based upon the person’s background (Doctor, Therapist, Ergonomist, Chiropractor, Body Worker/Awareness, etc.).

Build trust with your Website visitors by providing an easy form of contacting you using Click To Call Button.

The purpose of this is to compare and contrast the theories and methods used to address RSIs based on a professional’s field of expertise (training/experience/etc.). This will allow TIFAQ visitors to read the articles can gain a better appreciation of the varied specialties involved with RSI treatment and prevention and provide them with more and varied ways to address their problems.

The following basic format is suggested:

A description of the author’s specialty/area of expertise. This could include its history, traditional use, and role in treating or preventing RSIs

The basic theory(ies) that the specialty uses to explain the occurrence of RSIs.

How the specialty goes about treating/preventing RSIs based upon the theory(ies) noted in (2.) above.

A biography of the author: credentials, experience, etc. and a description of his/her business. Business name, address, phone, email, website all welcome as this will permit TIFAQ viewers to contact you for more information, etc.

Inclusion of references to revelant journal articles, publications, etc. would also really be nice here (optional).

This is an opportunity for you to discuss your professional field and how it benefits the RSI population, as well as provide information about yourself and your business, services, publications, etc. Many people would have the opportunity to read your article in the TIFAQ and contact you for further information. This article would also be on permanent display in the TIFAQ and could be updated periodically if you so desired.

The TIFAQ benefits from this by being able to provide valuable information for its visitors and increase its number of users. The RSI Network newsletter is also being revived (with concurrence with its originator Caroline Rose) and the articles may also be included in one of the newsletter’s issues, with your permission.

Interested in participating? Just send an email for more information, or just put together an article and send it to me and we can discuss it further from there.

Other on-line articles for the TIFAQ will also be request and considered, so if you have a idea for an article that would fit well within the TIFAQ’s topic areas, let us know.

In programming, a call site of a function (subroutine) is a line in the code which calls (or may call, through dynamic dispatch ) a function. A call site passes zero or more arguments to the function, and receives zero or more return values .

Build trust with your clients by providing an easy method of contacting you using Click To Call Button.

    // this is a function definition function sqr(x) { return x * x; }

    // these are two call sites of the function a = sqr(b); c = sqr(b);

    IBM/360 or Z/Architecture

    * (usually) external call…. R13 usually points to a save area for general purpose registers beforehand * and R1 points to a list of addresses of parameters (if any) LA R1,=A(B) point to (address of) variable ‘B’ L R15,=A(SQR) Load pointer ( address constant ) to separately compiled/assembled subroutine BALR R14,R15 Go to subroutine, which returns – usually at zero displacement on R14 * internal call (usually much smaller overhead and possibly ‘known’ parameters) BAL R14,SQR Go to program label and return

Sometimes, as an efficient method of indicating success or otherwise, return may be accomplished by returning at +0 or +4,+8 etc. requiring a small branch table at the return point – to go directly to process the case (as in HLL Switch statement ).

BAL R14,SQR Go to program label and return (using offset on R14 as return address) B FAIL (RET+0) – SOMETHING WRONG * (RET+4) – O.K.

Conventionally however, a return code is set in R15 (0=OK, 4= failure, or similar ..) but requiring a separate instruction to test R15 or use directly as a branch index.

Since your shopping site is mainly on computers and computer components you should have tried to name it something related instead of a broad name like onlineshoppingoworld.

However to build traffic to your shopping site your first stop should be a PPC network like Google AdSense. Test it out to see how effective it is, try various ad campaigns and monitor your sales compared to the different PPC ads you use.

Another thing you could do is start a blog like onlineshoppingworld.co.cc/blog and post related content that is helpful to people in your Niche. Then you can send the traffic from the blog to your shopping site, you can also do this with a normal content site if you prefer that over a blog.

Without offering any valuable content to visitors you are most likely not going to shop up on the first few pages of google’s results.

You could also try article writing and then in the resource section of the articles link to your website.

That should get you started for now, there is always a lot more you can do to help build traffic.

    Block

hi there. The best way to create traffic to your site is by creating backlinks. That means you have links on other site that are directed to your site.

The one way to do that is by exchanging links with other site.they place your link on their site and you place their link on your site.just try to find sites that have a better ranking than you.

The perceived worth of your company can be upgraded by chaging the perception of your company – make it appear bigger than it is. 1300 Number – Contact Us are the perfect way of taking your local business to the international stage.

the best way is to have one way links.that means other sites link to you but you dont link back to them.Google sees your site as more important this way.You do these by either posting articles on different sites and leaving a link back to your site.

I still get a lot of enquiries through the webite but i think they are stumbling across the site due to links from other sites not finding me directly..

Someone suggested putting videos of work on you tube etc this may boost traffic??

The main bulk of the (on site) seo work would involve rewriting a lot of the code for your website. It could be done behind the scenes without altering the design, but it’d be just as much work as if you did change the design, possibly more. It’d probably be easier to start again from scratch, the dull design can be fixed at the same time then.

There’s off site seo work that you can do as well, that wont require such major work, it’s basically generating links.

If you’re getting a lot of enquiries through your website, it’s obviously doing it’s job. It doesn’t matter where the visitors find you from, as long as they’re real potential customers & they’re finding you. Getting traffic from other websites is as important as getting it from search engines.

You can try putting videos on Youtube, but I’m not sure how popular landscape gardening is on Youtube. Maybe if you did some good basic landscape gardening diy instruction videos it could get an audience. Nobody’s going to want to watch a pure advert on youtube, but maybe if you can share a bit of your knowledge & create useful videos.

Your website is not bad, the criticism is just because you asked ‘How can I improve…’. I doubt that many of your competition have better websites.
