I agree. The problem is that many people don’t understand marketing … they think it is about advertising and websites. Few realise that good marketing takes a little perspiration and not a lot of cash.
Many of my clients think they have a marketing problem – they are the ones who have some realisation there is someting wrong/things could be better.
But …. their problem is often one of manaufacture, service levels etc and only after we have fixed these problems do we get down to marketing per se. Hence I spend as much time on management issues as I do on marketing
